The All-American Burger typically consists of a ground beef patty that is cooked to desired doneness, usually grilled or fried. The patty is then placed on a soft, round bun and topped with various classic ingredients such as lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, cheese, ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. Additional toppings like bacon, mushrooms, avocado, or fried eggs may also be included based on personal preference.
The name “All-American Burger” suggests a representation of American food culture and is often associated with casual dining establishments or fast food chains that serve hamburgers as their main offering. These burgers are commonly served alongside French fries, onion rings, or other side dishes.
It’s important to note that the term “All-American Burger” does not refer to a specific recipe or trademarked burger but rather signifies a traditional, iconic representation of a hamburger in American cuisine. Therefore, the exact ingredients and variations may differ depending on the region, restaurant, or personal interpretation of the term.
1 pound (450g) ground beef (80% lean)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
4 hamburger buns
4 slices of cheese (cheddar or American)
Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Gently mix the seasoning into the beef, being careful not to overmix.
Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1/2-inch (1.3cm) thick.
Place the burger patties on the preheated grill or grill pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or adjust the cooking time to your desired level of doneness.
In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on top of each patty and allow it to melt.
While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill.
Remove the burger patties from the heat and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun. Add your desired toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise.
Top with the remaining bun halves and serve immediately.
Enjoy your delicious homemade All-American Burgers!
